Immigrants Are Coming!: Is Nativism Driving The Immigration Debate?

Written by guest author  Axel Caballero Agreed, the window of opportunity is wide open for the passage of substantial immigration reform. Immigration reform is, after all, the next big ticket item. It’s the coveted prize that allegedly holds the key to millions of Latinos nationwide who will soon fall in line with whatever the powers that be decide to pass as “immigration reform”. No matter what it is, just slap the word “reform” to it and you will keep the community happy. After all, would anyone in their right mind would want to anger the same community that just proved…

Harry Reid: NRA’s Greatest Ally?

Yesterday, This Week With George Stephanopoulos aired an eye-opening interview (conducted just this past Friday) with Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid (D-NV). I urge every Democrat, across the spectrum – whether you identity as moderate, center-left, liberal or progressive – to watch this interview. A man who single-handedly controls the public debate in this country. A man who…

GOP’s U-turn on Immigration

It looks like GOP has decided to change its rhetoric on undocumented immigrants from “not rewarding law breakers” to “immigration reform must include path to citizenship.” Yesterday on ABC’s Sunday program “This Week”, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) said “We can’t go on forever with 11 million people living in this country in the shadows in an illegal status. We cannot forever have children who were born here — who were brought here by their parents when they were small children to live in the shadows, as well.” Mccain also admitted that the GOP’s poor performance among Hispanic voters in 2012…

Mrs.Jobs Unveils ‘The Dream Is Now’ to Advocate the Dream Act

Philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple’s founder Steve Jobs and filmmaker Davis Guggenheim have launched a new website to support comprehensive immigration reform for the DREAMers. The website titled ‘The Dream Is Now’ will broadcast videos of young undocumented immigrants describing their lives and how Dream Act can change it, if it were to pass. Others who are also involved in developing policies to support the reform and relatives and friends of the undocumented youth could submit videos as well. The videos will be posted on the website and will turn into a documentary film by Guggenheim. Mrs….
