Al-Qaeda is about to announce an Islamic State in northern Syria, says a senior figure in the Free Syrian Army (FSA), according to a report in Asharq Al-Awsat. Asking to remain anonymous, the source said the time for the announcement was confirmed to be the first day of Eid, at the end of Ramadan which is August 7, 2013. Egypt Cuts All Ties With Syria
Speaking at a conference on the Syrian uprising in Cairo on Saturday, President Mohamed Morsi announced that Egypt will be cutting all ties with Syria. He ordered the Syrian embassies in Damascus and Cairo to be closed, and called for imposition of no-fly zone. Morsi also said Egypt will begin providing Syrian opposition forces with financial aid and support for the Lebanon-based terror group Hezbollah would end. Jabhat Al-Nusra, a Sunni Muslim extremist rebel group trying to topple the regime of Bashar Al-Assad in Syria, declared that they are ready to fight Assad supporter Hezbollah. As the Syria’s brutal two-year war drags on and it has grown more sectarian and more likely to spill over into neighboring countries. Israel Strikes Syrian Armed-Forces Sites (Video)
On Friday and Sunday, Israel carried out the second and third strikes on Syria this year, significantly increasing the country’s involvement with the civil war and bloodshed in Syria, the BBC reported Sunday. Israel has claimed responsibility for an earlier strike on Syria in January, and says that the target of the strikes were weapons headed to the hands of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
