Greece Shuts Down National Public Broadcaster ERT
The reaction to the Greek government’s decision to shut down public broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) on Tuesday, is continuing. Today, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has called on the Greek government to reopen the channel. The Greek government said the closure was necessary to meet the country’s debt bailout obligations. It is the latest move in austerity measures aimed at leading the country out of recession.
