Awesome Brothers Named SportsKids of the Year, 2012
ABC’s “Good Morning America” made the announcement on October 24, 2012: Brothers Conner (9) and Cayden (7) of White House, TN are the 2012 Sports Illustrated Kids SportsKids of the Year.
Although Cayden was born with cerebral palsy and cannot talk or walk on his own, the Long brothers have competed in more than a dozen triathlons since 2011. How? Big brother Conner pushes Cayden in a stroller during the run portion, pulls Cayden in a raft in the swim, and pulls him in a trailer during the bike race (video.)
Their parents say, they always wanted to compete side-by-side in sports and this is what they decided to do together.
SportsKids receives thousands of entries every year since it was introduced in 2007 by the Sports Illustrated magazine. Young athletes who excel on their field, in the classroom and in service to their communities are considered for the award.
Their incredible story of sibling love and support sure to give all of us a lot of inspiration and encouragement, and I think big brother Conner also deserves the best big brother award of the 2012.
