Myth: “Tax Cuts For The Rich Create Jobs.”

Myth: “Wealthy people are job creators. When you give tax cuts to the wealthy, it creates jobs. When you raise their taxes, it destroys jobs.” When we look at the US economic history, overall economic growth has been stronger during periods of higher tax rates. After Ronald Reagan cut taxes 25% in 1981, unemployment continued to rise for another year and a half and the budget deficit tripled. Two years after the Reagan tax cuts, unemployment was still higher than when he took office. Bill Clinton raised taxes on the wealthiest 1% of Americans (called the biggest tax increase in history at…

Dear Harry: Thanks For The Knife In The Back

Look at those two. Happier than cochons in….well, you know. We’ve been bamboozled, people. Hoodwinked. Just two days ago, there was dangled before us a little hope. Hope that our Democratic majority might finally pay off in the form of a functioning, accountable Senate.  Filibuster Reform. How quickly things change. Harry Reid, the pugilist. More like Harry Reid, the futilist. Despite crushing pressure (so we were told), a loud, vociferous Left, and the insistence of Unions and sane people everywhere calling for change in the Senate, today, “Majority” “Leader” Harry Reid (D-NV) cut a deal with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell…

Strong Leader or Witchy Woman?

The New York Post proudly ran a cover showing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with her fists clenched at the Senate hearings on Benghazi . The cover wasn’t about the hearings at all. It looked more like Bill Clinton was supposedly cowering in fear of his witchy wife, who was having some sort of temper tantrum. This is one of the best examples of sloppy tabloid “journalism” of a tawdry and personal nature. I could go on about the the over-the-top phrasing, such as “explodes with rage”, or the obviously biased statement of “pols ripped her handling of the Benghazi debacle” (there…

Poisoned US Soldiers, Secretary of the Army and KBR

In November, 2012, an Oregon jury found Kellogg, Brown and Root (KBR), the military’s largest contractor, guilty of poisoning a dozen of US soldiers who were stationed at the Qarmat Ali water treatment center in Iraq, after the 2003 invasion. The court ordered the company to pay $85 million in damages. Jurors found KBR knew the presence and the toxicity of the chemical that poisoned the soldiers. According to a new report in Huffington Post, KBR has requested US Army to sign an indemnity agreement, protecting KBR from any potential legal liability, as part of its contract to rebuild Iraq…
